MANDEVILLE – One Mandeville police officer was murdered and a second officer was shot in the head Friday afternoon near the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 190.
The officer who was shot was taken to the hospital, and the Mandeville Chief of Police says he is expected to live.
Two suspects are in custody, according to a Louisiana State Police spokesperson, and officers
St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister issued the following statement:
“We are shocked at the sad and tragic news today of the shooting of two Mandeville Police officers in the line of duty — one of them fatally. We ask that our community come together in prayer and support for these officers, their families, and the Mandeville Police Department.”
The officer who was shot in the head was transported to a hospital. Their condition has not been released.
No further information has been released at this time about the identity of the officers or suspects.
